Tuesday 27th October 2009.

New Panteg's committee would like to express their appreciation to Wales & Scarlets prop Iestyn Thomas for his recent coaching session at the club.

Almost 50 1st XV and youth players attended the session which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. It is hoped that local product Iestyn will return for further sessions as the knowledge he can pass on is invaluable.

The club have appointed a new coaching structure for the forthcoming 2009-2010 season. Nigel Barry is the clubs new Head Coach, and he will be assisted by Forwards Coach Iain Bevan and Backs Coach Nigel Probert.

Scrum half Neil Davies has been appointed as First XV Captain for the 2009/2010 season. Neil succeeds last years Captain Mike Bond who the club would like to thank for his sterling efforts both on and off the field.

Training:

Senior team training commenced in June and takes place twice weekly, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.45pm under the guidance of coaches Nigel Barry, Nigel Probert and Iain Bevan. Attendances have exceeded 20 on every occasion, and with the season rapidly approaching numbers have swollen to over 30. Many new players have been welcomed, together with several youth players who have progressed through the ranks. The clubs ethos is to develop enjoyable open rugby in conjuntion with good coaching, and the accent is very much on players who want to play for New Panteg. We have facilities that are unparalleled in the local area, so why not come along and give us a try?
